Chapter Two

  • April 19, 2023
Yaakov Yosef Reinman is a Talmudic scholar, historian, novelist, translator, editor and public speaker. He is recognized as one of the leading Talmudic scholars and most celebrated authors of the international Orthodox Jewish community. He speaks six languages, writes on a literary level in three languages and translates from seven. He was born in New York City in 1947 to Holocaust survivors. In high school, he was a National Merit scholar and received scholarship offers from many universities and colleges. He received a BA in Talmudic Business Law from Beth Medrash Govoha in 1968, a Masters in Judaic Studies in 1971, followed by a Doctorate in 1973. Starting in 1985, while continuing his talmudic research at BMG, he also served as editor-in-chief of C.I.S. Publishers for nearly ten years. During this time, he produced hundreds of titles, directing the entire creative process of every book through all stages of production. During this time, he managed to author a number of books, but the pressures of production did not leave him enough time for his own projects. In 1994, he resigned and began a career as a free-lance publisher, editor and writer. His expertise and experience enabled him to command high fees and thereby limit his clientele and concentrate on his own works.
